چکیده
High safety and rate capability of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) remain challenging. In this study, sandwich-structured poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF/PVDF-HFP/PVDF) membranes with thermal shut-down function were successfully prepared through electrospinning. The effects different weight ratios PVDF PVDF-HFP in a composite membrane on the physical electrochemical properties explored. It was found that 36 wt% (P/H2/P) showed excellent electrolyte absorption (367%) ionic conductivity (2.5 × 10?3 S/cm). Half-cell P/H2/P as separator exhibited higher discharge capacity better cycle performance than commercial PP membrane. More importantly, thermally stable high melting-temperature chosen outer layer, while low used inner layer. Self-shutdown achieved when heated at 140 °C, providing measure for LIBs. These results indicate PVDF/PVDF-HFP/PVDF is promising candidate LIBs applications.

Towards Enhanced Gas Sensor Performance with Fluoropolymer Membranes
In this paper we report on how to increase the selectivity of gas sensors by using fluoropolymer membranes. The mass transport of polar and non-polar gases through a polymer membrane matrix was studied by systematic selection of polymers with different degrees of fluorination, as well as polymers whose monomers have ether groups (-O-) in addition to fluorine groups (-F). For the study, a set of...

The thermal and hydrolytic degradation of electrospun gelatin membranes cross-linked with glutaraldehyde in vapor phase has been studied. In vitro degradation of gelatin membranes was evaluated in phosphate buffer saline solution at 37 oC. After 15 days under these conditions, a weight loss of 68 % was observed, attributed to solvation and depolymerization of the main polymeric chains. Thermal ...
متن کاملShut Down, Don't Stress Out
Chemical reactions lie at the heart of many biological processes, from photosynthesis and respiration to cell signaling and drug metabolism. Thanks to an atmosphere rich in oxygen, many organisms use oxygen to carry out these life processes. But oxygen metabolism produces highly toxic by-products called reactive oxygen species. When oxidation outpaces detoxifying reactions, oxidative stress occ...
متن کاملFunctionalized and Electrospun Polymeric Materials as High-Performance Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell: A Review
Proton exchange membranes (PEM) for a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) have main drawbacks which are methanol permeability, reduced proton conductivity and the cost of the membrane. This paper reviews different polymeric materials such as fluorinated, non-fluorinated, acid-base complex, and composite membranes for DMFC. Currently, nonfluorinated membranes gain a lot of atte...
